Ipoh, Malaysia: Arch-rival India has beaten Pakistanby 3-1 in Azlan Shah clash on Tuesday.
The green team lost the must win match who already were mauled by Australia 6-0 after their opening 4-3 victory against defending champions New Zealand.
For India Akashdeep Singh and Rupinder Pal Singh scored the first two goals in the first half which India led by 2-1.
Mandeep Singh then scored the last goal for India in the 57th minute of the match.
The solitary goal from Pakistan came from Muhammad Waqas who scored the first and only goal of the match.
Moreover, Defending champions New Zealand defeated Korea 3-0 to register its first win in the Sultan Azlan Shah hockey tournament.
Australia are leading the table with six points from two wins in as many matches followed by hosts Malaysia and Korea respectively. New Zealand are at the bottom of the table.
