ISLAMABAD: As the world observes the International Women’s Day on Friday the miseries and victimisation of Kashmiri women by Indian troops and police personnel in Indian occupied Kashmir continue unabated.
According to a report, released by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, today, thousands of women were among 93, 845 civilians, martyred by Indian troops and other paramilitary forces since January 1989 till now.
The report maintained that 617 women were killed by the men in uniform
alone from January 2001 till date. It revealed that since January 1989 the state terrorism had rendered 22,766 women widowed while 10,048 were molested by the Indian forces.
The report said that thousands of women suffered the loss of their sons, husbands and brothers in the occupied territory who got disappeared in the custody of troops, paramilitary forces and police personnel. As per the Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons, more than 8,000 Kashmiris went missing during the past 24 years, it added.
The report further pointed out that majority of the Kashmiris suffering from multiple psychic problems was of womenfolk.
