KARACHI: Former president Gen (Retd) Pervez Musharraf has said that his nomination papers to contest the next general elections will be filed today (March 27), from Chitral.
He was addressing a crowded press conference at a hotel here on Wednesday. The former president said that his principal objective is to break the political status quo in the country and to bring the third political force in the forefront.
He said that he has consulted with the party men about fielding the candidates in the general election. Many of the candidates of the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) are filing their nomination papers, he said.
He told a questioner that he has returned to Pakistan, in the interest of the country. Gen (Retd) Pervez Musharraf said that it is premature to say about the number of seats, his party would get in the general elections.
He told a questioner that the nuclear assets of the country are in safe hands and the whole nation is also united for the safety of the same.
He said it is expected that he would also contest the general election from constituency NA-250 Karachi, but it is yet to be finalized.
He said he was a soldier but has returned to the country as a civilian. Anybody can practice the politics, whether a doctor or any other professional.
To a question about his future in the politics of Pakistan, the former president said that he will decide about it after the general election.
