LAHORE, Mar 6 (APP): Opposition leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali here on Wednesday said that PML-N had shortlisted three candidates for caretaker prime minister. “We have shortlisted the names of Rasool Bux Paleejo, Justice (r) Shakirullah Jan and Justice (r) Nasir Aslam Zahid,” he said talking to media.
He said that all the three names had been finalized in consulation with all opposition parties whether they had represenation in the parliament or not. He said, candidates for the caretaker prime minister were shortlisted owing to their complete impartiality. He said, they would also take Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf into confidence over the issue of caretaker premier.
Ch. Nisar said, he would be forwarding the proposed names for the office of caretaker prime minister through a letter to Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf tommorrow (Thursday). He said being opposition leader, he was neither constitutionally nor legally bound to consult anybody for finalising candidate for caretaker prime minister.
Answering a question, Ch. Nisar said that PML-N wanted elections for National and provincial assemblies the same day. He said, caretaker government for Balochistan and Sindh should be formed with wider consultations.
Taking strong exception to media’s reports regarding back door talks between ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the PML-N, Nisar said, there was no back channel dialogue in progress with the government on the issue of interim setup as his party did not believe in these channels. He said, situation in Karachi was disturbing and the government must take immediate steps to restore peace there.
