ISLAMABAD: 100 million smuggled gold has been seized by the customs officials worth Rs. 100 million at Islamabad’s Benazir Bhutto International Airport, media reported on Friday.
According to the customs officials, one smuggler, Waqas, brought 23.5 kilograms of gold from Dubai through Shaheen Airline’s Flight NL-224 but he was captured immediately after reaching at Islamabad airport.
This 23.5 kilograms’ gold have 100 million rupees’ value in the local market, informed Deputy Collector of Customs at airport, Ghulam Ali Malik.
A company booked this gold on name of Gold Enterprises Company and its documents were submitted at Peshawar Airport but the smuggler tried to smuggle that through Islamabad airport, he added.
The officials at the airport told that a probe has been launched into the gold smuggling bid after registering a case against held smuggler.
