QUETTA: The lawmakers unanimously passed Balochistan Local Government (Amendment) Bill 2013 in session of the Balochistan Assembly, here on Friday evening.
Deputy Speaker Abdul Quddoos Bezenjo chaired the assembly session. Provincial Minister Abdul Raheem Ziaratwal moved the Local Government (Amendment) Bill 2013.
The chair put the bill to the house that adopted it unanimously. The objectives and reasons of the bill were stated that the Election Commission of Pakistan had desired that the Provincial governments should promulgate their Local Government Laws such as to hold the election of the local bodies in accordance to the Constitution of Pakistan.
The Government of Balochistan has already promulgated its laws including the Balochistan Local Government Act, 2010, however, the same provisions needs to be further amended in view of the recommendations of the Election Commission of Pakistan and to hold election of the Local Bodies on party basis instead of non-party basis.
Later, after completion of remaining proceedings of the house, the Deputy Speaker prorogued the assembly session.
