KARACHI: Provincial Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has introduced new Local Government System 2013 in the best interest of both urban and rural population of the province.
Talking to the newsmen after the Sindh Assembly session here on Monday, he said that input and suggestions of other political parties have also been included the system.
To a question about Local Bodies elections, he said that the elections will be held as early as possible keeping in view the situation in the province.
He said the provincial government desires early functioning of the new Local Bodies System so that problems of the people could be resolved at gross- roots level.
However, the opposition leader in Sindh Assembly Faisal Sabzwari while talking to media termed the newly introduced Local Government Bill as contrary to Article- 140-A of the Constitution.
He alleged that the copies of the draft bill were not provided to the MPAs of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) before the Assembly session.
