ISLAMABAD: Parliamentarians from various political parties in the National Assembly on Thursday assured the government of their full support to purge Karachi from criminal groups and extortionists.
Speaking on a Point of Order, Jamaat Islami parliamentary leader Sahibzada Tariqullah said that a transparent operation should be carried in Karachi against extortionists, target killers, mafia and criminals and his party would fully support the government in this regard.
He said that thousand innocent people were killed in this port city so far and it was high time to purge the economic hub of the country from the criminals.
JUI-F lawmaker Akram Khan Durrani appreciated the interior minister for taking the House into confidence on Karachi issue and assured his party support in this regard.
He said that these criminal groups were defaming various political parties and action should be taken without discrimination against such groups.
Member from FATA Shah Jee Gul and ANP leader Ameer Haider Khan Hoti said that “we should not indulge in blame game and collective efforts should be made to bring peace to Karachi.”
