KARACHI: Rapid spread of dengue fever in Karachi city has posed threats for the citizens as 41 new cases were reported in 24 hours.
According to Dengue Surveillance Cell 41 people suffering from fever admitted in various hospitals across the city were found affected of dengue virus.
Spokesman Dengue Surveillance Cell said that with the recent cases total number of dengue patients in Karachi has touched 1300 figure.
He said that the provincial government and health authorities were taking possible steps to bring the dreadful disease under control but major hurdle in this regard was lack of awareness and careless attitude of the people.
The spokesman urged the citizens to extend support to health authorities and adopt the precautionary measures to make Karachi dengue free city.
Meanwhile, the citizens seem terrified over the surge in dengue fever. They also expressed their dissatisfaction over the steps taken by provincial government, health department and lack of facilities in government run hospitals to treat the dengue patients.
They also demanded the authorities concerned for concentrating over the backward areas which were major producer of dengue virus.
