ISLAMABAD: Chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan held a meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Army Chief Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, minutes before the All Parties Conference on issues of terrorism and militancy commenced in Islamabad.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan was also present in the meeting besides Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt Gen Zaheer ul Islam.
Sources said the army and ISI chiefs briefed Khan over national security issues in a meeting which he had sought to get a special briefing on the issue of terrorism.
The PTI chief had announced to present his four-point proposals in today’s moot urging the government to devise a clear-cut policy towards militancy.
The PTI chief supports talks with Taliban and an end to US missile strikes in Pakistan’s tribal areas.
The APC was underway in Islamabad where leaders of at least 12 major political parties were invited to participate.
PM Nawaz Sharif will chair the meeting. Director General ISI will brief the meeting on security situation. The Army Chief will also apprise the political leadership of overall security situation in the country.
The session will be held in-camera as media persons are not allowed in the conference.
Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan has expressed hope that a consensus resolution will be adopted at the end of the conference which will give a roadmap to the Government as to how it should move forward to overcome terrorism and establish peace in the country.
