ISLAMABAD: The investigation team has completed its report over Islamabad standoff, caused by Sikandar Hayat at Jinnah Avenue, and held Chief Commissioner (CC), IG and local police responsible of negligence in the incident.
A three-member probe team led by DG of National Crises Management Cell (NCMC) has completed this investigation report after two weeks’ complete investigation into the incident.
Local police and administration are responsible of negligence into the incident, so an appropriate action should be taken against the Chief Commissioner, IGP, and other police officials, said the probe team in the report.
DSP Idrees Rathore assisted Zamurad Khan to get near accused Sikandar Hayat, DSP Arif Shah lied on the occasion that he reached there in search of his son, and IGP’s decision to keep away from the scene was not right, added the report, saying a case should be filed against DSP Idrees Rathore.
The SP Investigation and ASP of City did not play any role to keep the media at distance from the focal point while SHO and ten other police officials of Abpara Police Station are responsible of allowing public gathering at the scene, so action should be taken against those as well, said the probe report further.
The probe team has respected spirit of SSP (Operations) Dr. Rizwan during the standoff and kept mild tone about him.
The Information Ministry has been suggested by the probe team to make a policy for halting media coverage of such incidents in the future.
