KARACHI: Despite police and Rangers’ crackdown in Karachi, political and ethnic violence persisted to haunt the Karachiites Monday, claiming nine more lives within just nine hours.
The firing incidents, which started at around 12am on Sunday in different parts of the city, left nine people dead till 9am. Police said six people were gunned down in drive-by attacks while three sack-packed were recovered.
In early morning incidents, officials said a 40-year-old man was shot dead outside Karachi University.
Three persons, a father and his son among them, were killed in restive Lyari locality this morning in a drive-by attack.
Police recovered three dead bodies from a car in Gulistan-e-Johar area late on Sunday, adding that the victims were kidnapped before being shot dead.
