ISLAMABAD: The Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) renewing its basic belief in the ongoing struggle of Kashmiris for right to self-determination has expressed grave concern that continued unsettlement of this dispute can lead to a nuclear catastrophe.
The whole of the region has gone highly volatile warranting global role “to save the region from any nukes eventuality”.
In a written by-name appeal to the Editor-in-Chief of Daily Pakistan Observer Zahid Malik, who is also the Chairman of the Nazriya-e-Pakistan Council (Trust), the Vice-President of JKDFP Mehmood Ahmed Saghar urged him ‘to use your good offices to seek a just, honourable and equitable solution of this dispute to bring an immediate end to the sufferings of the people of Kashmir”.
Recounting the hellish conditions in Hindustan-occupied parts of J&K the appeal says: “Hundreds of thousands of innocent Kashmiris have been killed, millions injured and public properties worth billions have been razed to the ground in the entire Valley, which was known once as paradise on earth”.
The long pending dispute in the Himalayan region has been the basic cause of immense sufferings of the Kashmiris. Pakistan’s unflinching faith and commitment towards a peaceful settlement of the dispute is appreciable; India must also reciprocate so that this running sore could be solved on the basis of universal principle of right to self-determination promised to Kashmiris. The recent skirmishes on the Line of Control and tension escalation between Pakistan and India carry the potential of “ another devastating war”.
Given the prevalent gravity of the situation, the appeal text reads, “it is imperative that peace-loving people across the globe should play their much needed role to save the region (South Asia) from any eventuality of nuclear catastrophe”. The appeal, Mehmood Saghar says, is made in the context of the message of the party chairman Mr Shabir Ahmed Shah circulated to print and visual media as well as to the long queues of tourists going to Kashmir. JKDFP is component of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference representing the people of J&K State.
