LAHORE: Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif on Saturday called for immediate arrest of gang involved in the rape of a five-year-old girl in Lahore.
The girl was picked while she was playing outside her house on Thursday. She was thrown outside the Ganga Ram Hospital after being subjected to sexual assault.
Earlier, Inspector General of Punjab police submitted a preliminary report to the prime minister about the investigations made into the horrific incident which shocked the nation.
Police say they have detained few more suspects for questioning. But the actual culprits remain at large.
According to the police, close-circuit cameras installed at Ganga Ram Hospital have been obtained to find clue about the suspect.
“There is no quick fix in such cases. It may take a week to catch those involved in such heinous crime,” DIG Rai Tahir said.
But he said that police could make any breakthrough anytime.
“We can not record the statement of the affected girl till her condition improves,” he added.
Meanwhile, the girl’s condition continues to improve. A spokesman of the Services Hospital told newsmen that she would be shifted to ward from intensive care unit (ICU) on Sunday.
The spokesman said that another operation will be performed after four to six months to ensure her full recovery. But doctors say that she was still in a state of mental trauma
