SRINAGAR: Terming the sacrifices offered by the Kashmiris as an “asset of freedom struggle”, Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said the amalgam will continue to fight for the Kashmir cause till it is taken to logical conclusion.
According to a statement issued here, Mirwaiz while addressing a public gathering at Masjid-e-Umar (RA) at Maloora in Parimpora on outskirts of Srinagar, said since 1931 Kashmiris have been offering priceless sacrifices for the cause of freedom. “Such sacrifices were made for the resolution of Kashmir issue as per the aspirations of people,” he said.
Mirwaiz said government has restricted the activities of Hurriyat leaders to create a gap between the common people and the pro-freedom leadership. “There is no denying the fact that political and religious activities of Hurriyat leaders have been curbed on gunpoint. Even the Hurriyat leaders are being regularly barred from offering Friday prayers,” he said.
Mirwaiz said Kashmir is the main issue between India and Pakistan for the past six decades. “If it remains unresolved, it would become a dangerous problem that would lead to instability in entire South Asia,” he said.
