ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has demanded more time to submit the details of his asset in with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
According to a statement issued by the PM House here on Monday, the PM could not submit his assets’ details as he was on foreign visits and he will submit the details of assets within next two days after his return home from US visit.
Earlier, Election Commission of Pakistan ordered elected parliamentarians, who have won the general election 2013, to disclose details of their assets to ECP before September 30 under constitutional and legal requirement. The ECP had also been sending letters to the parliamentarians as reminder to submit the details before the end of deadline, otherwise their membership of the assembly might be suspended.
Following the orders of ECP, the Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif submitted his asset details today which were not disclosed before media.
It is interesting to note that the deadline to submit assets’ detail has expired but around 700 parliamentarians have yet to submit the details of their assets.
