KARACHI: At least five people, including a local leader of Awami National Party (ANP), were killed across the metropolis on Friday.
According to reports, Qasim, 35, s/o Usman, was gunned down in Yousuf Goth, Saeedabad, Baldia Town, within the remits of Saeedabad police station. His body was sent to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities.
Saeedabad police said victim was sitting in a hotel when unknown shooters killed him. Police have started investigation.
Separately, a political activist, Lal Darweesh Khan 35, son of Sakhi Darweesh, was shot dead in Orangi Town No 4, within the jurisdiction of Peerabad police station. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for an autopsy.
SHO Peerabad Police Station, Abdul Moeed, said victim was local leader of Awami National Party (ANP). He added that Lal Darweesh received two bullets on his upper torso and died before he could be taken to hospital. Sources said he was ANP Sindh chapter chief, Shahi Syed’s, nephew.
An unknown drug addict, 25, died due to overdose in Sadder, near Jahangir Park. The body was shifted to the morgue.
A dead body was recovered from a drain near Quaidabad flyover. It was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JMC) cemetery.
The body of an unknown person was also recovered from Korangi No. 1- ½. The body was moved to JPMC for postmortem.
