LAHORE: Punjab Assembly’s opposition has united over its opposing of Local Bodies election in Province, referring the issue to Courts and fielding joint candidates against PML-N.
Addressing a joint press conference after attending a meeting with leaders of JI, and PTI over the issue, PPP’s Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo said that even PML-Q was onboard over the struggle against PML-N’s contrived system of non-party LB elections.
They vowed to write to Election Commission of Pakistan to fulfill its obligation regarding the issue, while seat adjustments between PTI, JI and PPP would also be made, during countless meetings to be scheduled.
Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf stages protest inside and outside the Punjab Assembly against Punjab government’s decision to hold Local Bodies elections on non-party basis.
Pakistan People’s Party has also opposed the holding of LB elections on non-party basis. NNI
