ISLAMABAD: Russia has offered to invest in energy sector in Pakistan including 5000 megawatts of electricity to Pakistan via Kyrgyzstan.
A high-level Russian delegation consisting of representatives from leading companies with businesses in the areas of energy and construction, called on Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms, Ahsan Iqbal in the federal capital.
Expressing the willingness to invest in energy sectors of Pakistan, Russian Deputy Energy Minister Yury Sentyurin made the offer to export 5000 MW of electricity via Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan. The sources in planning ministry said Moscow is setting up a hydropower plant in Kyrgyzstan.
The delegation leader Sentyurin noted the ascendance of new government buoyed up the spirits of Russian investors; hence, Moscow is geared up to extend cooperation to Pakistan for investment in all energy sectors.
