ISLAMABAD: Awami National Party (ANP) Sindh President, Senator Shahi Syed has said that Karachi violence was the outcome of fight for personal interests, not sectarianism or nationalism.
Talking to media persons here at the Parliament House on Monday, Shahi Syed said the ANP would present itself if free and fair operation was conducted in Karachi to clear the city of criminals.
He hailed Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif’s interest to restore peace, law and order and business activities in Karachi.
The ANP Sindh president said military operation was no solution to Karachi issue but it needed elimination of political and referential influence.
He said that ground reality is that Karachi is in the grip of criminal elements who decide the fate of citizens, which must be stopped.
Senator Shahi Syed said the former government being established on collation basis was facing problems to take decision solely but the position of the sitting government is much different and it can decide at its own.
He said tall claims and pledges can’t help resolve Karachi issue and it needed legislation and solid steps to overcome the menace of terrorism and extortion in the city.
The ANP leader said his party would extend all sorts of cooperation to root out target killing, crimes and de-weaponization but would resist and oppose any action against innocent people.
