ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan to hold local bodies elections on dates given by provinces, media reports.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Choudhry, while hearing a case regarding local bodies elections in the country, observed that the court can’t grant more time in this regard.
The bench said that Punjab and Balochistan provincial governments have informed the court that they are ready to hold local bodies elections on December 7, while Sindh government is ready to hold elections on November 27.
Chief Justice Choudhry ordered the ECP to hold elections dates submitted by provinces.
The provincial KPK government has yet to submit a date.
