MULTAN: Chief Justice-designate Tassaduq Hussain Jillani stressed the need of supremacy of law and said it could eradicate intolerance and prejudice.
Speaking at a ceremony held at District Bar Association here on Friday, he added that judiciary and lawyers both were working for dispensation of justice in society.
He appreciated the role played by the legal fraternity in the movement of independence of judiciary in 2007, adding that they could not preserve it until they follow supremacy of
the Constitution and law.
Recalling Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s first address to the Constituent Assembly, he said the Quaid-i-Azam wanted to make Pakistan a state having religious harmony and devoid of prejudice.
Praising Lahore High Court Multan Bench, he said out of all the benches of LHC, number of disposal at the Multan Bench were the highest.
He mentioned his special association with the Multan Bar and said it had produced big names and added that he had been the general secretary of the bar.
He advised the budding lawyers to work with determination and courage.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Justice Lahore High Court Umar Ata Bandial appreciated the Multan bar and said it had always played a prominent role.
He added that old category system had been abolished and the Multan Bar had played a pivotal role in disposal of old cases.
Earlier, the chief justice-designate was received warmly by CJ LHC Umar Ata Bandial and other judges.
