ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday filed a supplementary reference against the former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf in connection with his alleged involvement in infamous rental power projects, AAJ News reports.
With this move, the NAB has nominated Ashraf as an accused in the multi-billion-rupee scandal along with nine other accused who were already nominated.
Late last month, Chairman NAB Qamar Zaman Choudhry gave his approval to file the reference against the former prime minister.
The 263-page reference is filed at an anti-corruption court, which will begin its hearing from November 19.
Ashraf had been under investigation for his role in granting rental power projects as a water and power minister in the cabinet of ex-PM Yousuf Raza Gilani.
In March 2012, the Supreme Court of Pakistan had declared all such projects unlawful and ordered investigations against the officials, including Ashraf, allegedly involved in the scam.
