Peshawar: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan announced to hold a protest against inflation and corruption on December 22 in the provincial capital. He was addressing a press conference here on Friday in the presence of senior PTI leaders Javed Hashmi, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Jahangir Tareen and others. He criticized the PML-N government for announcing an investment scheme, under which no question will be asked on investment over Rs25 million.
He claimed that such a scheme has exposed the real face of the government, which has introduced the scheme to facilitate tax evaders. “Black money could not bring peace in the country even if it is filtered through various schemes,” he added.
According to him, the new amnesty scheme only aims to make corrupt wealthy people wealthier while taking away the livelihood of poor people. In the past, such schemes were introduced, but it never attracted huge investments; it only benefited certain people to whiten their black money.
Imran alleged that after the recent drone strike in North Waziristan, it has become clear that the PML-N government had made a ‘deal’ with the US. He pointed out that the US continues with the drone strikes while the Pakistani government only issued condemnation statements. “The recent drone strikes have cleared the picture that through massive poll rigging the PML-N was given the power in return for promoting the US agenda in Pakistan,” he added.
He stated that the Americans have never expressed their intention of stopping the drone attacks on Pakistan. He said Pakistan’s Information Minister is behaving like a spokesperson of the US State Department. The Party Chief also told the media that the US would not leave Afghanistan even after the troop withdrawal and it would continue with its drone programme in the region. “It should be clear to everyone that peace dialogues cannot succeed till drone attacks are stopped,” he added.
On blockage of Nato supply route, Imran said it has been done in accordance with unanimous resolutions and as per the decision of the Peshawar High Court. He also said they have no intention of fighting the US, but on the contrary they want to liberate Pakistan from the clutches of US slavery. He showed astonishment over the Federal Government’s request for not blocking the Nato supply line and added that in the All Parties Conference it was decided if the drone attacks were not stopped then the Nato supply route would be blocked.
Imran warned the Federal Government if it continued to deceive the people and destroy the national economy, then the PTI will take them on in and outside the Assemblies.
On this occasion former DG Anti-Corruption Punjab Brigadier (Retd.) Aslam Ghuman, former Chairman Public Accounts Committee Azeem Noori Ghumman, former tehsil nazim Nasir Ghuman and former MNA from Lahore Wazir Ali Bhatti along with companions announced joining Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
