KARACHI: Pakistan number one Imran Shahzad and former National Champion Shahid Aftab also won their opening matches in the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) World championship in Daugavpils (Latvia) on Thursday night.
According to a message of Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association issued on Friday, Imran Shehzad (Pak) blasted Benny Loh of Sigapore in four straight frames.
Pakistan cueists will be playing their today’s match late on Friday night.
Except for keenly fought third frame, Imran enjoyed upper hand during his impressive 94-31, 64-55, 63-55, 72-27 victory against Loh.
Shahid Aftab staged fine recovery after losing the first frame and 1-2 down to register an interesting 4-2 win over Jason Todd of New Zealand. Shahid won 52-64, 68-42, 37-59, 65-59, 59-10, 73-01.
Earlier Reigning Champion Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Sajjad won their first round matches without any problem.
