PESHAWAR: Authorities today imposed Section 144 in Peshawar as parts of security measures to protect Muharram processions in the city.
The provincial home department also recommended closure of cellular phone services on 9 and 10 MUharram in Peshawar, Hangu, Dera Ismail Khan and Kohat.
According to reports, pillion riding was also banned in the city for a period of three days.
Under Section 144, Afghan refugees have been barred from entering city for three days.
Separately, militants tried to target a vehicle of security forces on Ring Road in Peshawar. Security forces were passing from Achini area when a roadside bomb went off.
