PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Khan Durrani has said that police have completed all preparations to counter any untoward incidents during Muharram.
The IGP in a press statement here said the threat of terrorism in Muharram is present, however, all preparations have been completed by the police to counter any untoward incidents.
He said foolproof security measures would be taken for protection of 454 big and small Muharram processions in the province and people want to participate in mourning processions and Majalis would be searched on three different places for security purposes before entrance.
He said 93 pathways and routes in Peshawar City have been completely sealed.
He said mourning processions in most sensitive districts of Peshawar, Kohat, Hangu and DI Khan would also be monitored from air while army will remain as standby.
