ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police along with contingents of Rangers on Saturday conducted flag march with an objective to maintain peace and tranquility in the city during Muharram ul Haram.
The flag march was conducted under the supervision of SP Saddar Jamil Ahmad Hashmi which was participated by SDPO Saddar, SDPO Rural, SDPO Bani Gala, SDPO I Area, SHOs of all police stations, about two hundred officials and 40 vehicles of Pakistan Rangers, Islamabad
Traffic Police, Police Commandoes, Rescue 15 police and police patrolling.
Flag march started from Pakistan Sports Complex and culminated at the same point after passing through Aabpara Chowk, Melody Chowk, Imambargah Asna-e-Ashri G-6/2, Blue Area, Jinnah Avenue, Imambargah Al-Sidiq G-9/2, F-10 Markaz, F-11 Markaz Bheka Syedan, Golra Shareef, Shah Allah Ditta, Tarnol back to G-10 Markaz, G-9 Markaz Karachi
Company, Jamia Al Murtaza G-9/4, Khyber chowk and Kashmir Highway.
IGP Islamabad Sikandar Hayat has said that Islamabad police have ensured detailed security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram.
He said that police would accomplish responsibility in an efficient manner to ensure protection to lives and property of citizens.
He also directed to launch an effective search operation within their jurisdictions including slum areas where most of the inhabitants are Afghans.
IGP said that Islamabad Police have made full preparations for high alert security on the eve of Muharram Ul Haram and duty roasters have been compiled.
He said operati0nal police men have been assigned their duties and special control room has been established to ensure effective coordination among all wings of Islamabad police and assisting security agencies.
SSP Islamabad Muhammad Rizwan has said that purpose of this flag march was to demonstrate preparations of police and other law enforcement agencies during the Muhram ul Haram to counter any challenge and maintain peace in the city.
He also directed all the SDPOs and the SHOs to make effective security arrangements in this regard in their respective areas.
He said Islamabad Police would maintain a close liaison with peace committees and organizers of Muharram majalis and processions.
