RAWALPINDI: Multiple teams have been constituted by the federal government to arrest people involved in Rawalpindi incident on November 15. Reports said that at least 50 such people have been identified thus far, media reported.
A five-member Fact Finding Committee headed by Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, commenced functioning to conduct investigations into Rawalpindi tragedy.
According to sources, the rioters hail from different areas of the country including Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Special police squads have been formed to arrest these people who went berserk on the holy day of Ashura.
Moreover, the investigation committee, using CCTV footages and photographs, identified on the very first day over 50 rioters involved in the rampage that led to myriad killings.
The probe committee will elicit statements from eyewitnesses and the police from whom the weapons were snatched. The committee will also take stock of the lack of prompt action by on-duty police officials. Meantime, informants have been tasked to confirm the identity of assailants.
Taking notice of hatred-mongering on internet and mobile phones, the government directed the ministry of information technology and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to take action against the people promoting hate-based material.
