LAHORE: A leader of the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) Allama Nasir Abbas Multani was shot dead by the attackers near the Ferozpur Road underpass in the Muslim Town police precincts late on Sunday night.
However, driver Munawar and Allama’s companion Najamul Hassan remained unhurt. The victim was rushed to Sheikh Zayed Hospital by his driver in the same vehicle but he was pronounced dead by doctors.
The CCPO Lahore said apparently it was an incident of target killing. However, no case was registered till the filing of the report.
Allama Nasir was sitting in the front seat with his driver and one of his companion was sitting at the back seat. Some unknown attackers on bike started shooting on the car from front, due to which Allama Nasir died.
The news of the killing of Allama Nasir spread out expeditiously and a large number of activists belonging to the same group recorded their protest. They shouted out loud with their slogan to and demand to arrest the killers immediately.
In a statement issued, Governor Punjab, Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has condemned the killing of Allama Nasir Abbas in the strongest of words.
“Allama Nasir Abbas’s murder is highly deplorable and tragic”, he said in his statement.
