ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayyaz Sadiq said on Monday Pakistan would continue its unequivocal and unwavering support to the Palestine cause.
“The Palestinian issue should be resolved in a just and fair manner, which is acceptable to the people of Palestine”, he said talking to Palestinian Ambassador Walid A.M. Abu Ali, who called on him here at the Parliament House.
The Speaker said continuous denial of inalienable right of Palestinians and perpetual atrocities by Israelis against innocent citizens were creating unrest in the Middle Eastern region.
He said the international community should realize its responsibilities to resolve the conflict and take practical steps taken against the oppressor.
He said Pakistan and Palestine had a close, strong, and historical affinity, based on the aspirations and sentiments of their peoples. This affinity should be cemented further through interaction of parliamentarians from either side, he added.
Sardar Ayyaz Sadiq also assured the envoy that Pakistan would continue its support to Palestinian students studying in educational institutions here.
The ambassador appreciated the support of Pakistan during six-decade long struggle for freedom of Palestine and said Palestinians greatly admired it. The Palestinian leadership was indebted to the Prime Minister of Pakistan for raising their issue in his address to the UN General Assembly, he added.
He said diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Palestine would further grow with the engagement of political leadership of both sides. He congratulated the NA Speaker on successful holding of Asian parliamentarians moot in Islamabad.
