ISLAMABAD: Major General(Retd) Mehmood Ali Durrani said on Friday that political will and spirit of give and take between India and Pakistan can resolve all disputes including Siachen issue.
Talking to PTV, he said a composite dialogue process was required to resolve all issues between two countries.
He said that he was in favour of formation of the Joint Monitoring Commissions for resolution of the Siachen issue and all the international issues are being resolved by strong political will and spirit of give and take.
“Formation of these commissions are really growable and the leadership of both the countries`s forces have already done alot work on it and looking forward to soon find a solution added that these are good proposals and will be successful” as Prime Minister’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs and National Security FM Sartaj Aziz said recently.
He said that our environment is getting polluted day by day and presence of forces are causing great trouble in Siachen so forces of both the countries should be withdrawn from there immediately and environment should be cleared .
He said that formulation of a scientific centre at that place for this purpose will be workable provided forces of both the states should be removed from there and the environment be cleaned.
He said both the countries should resolve their issues of common interests by setting up joint commissions arrangement as there is already a joint commission working on Indus Water Treaty
Replying to a question about monitoring and verification mechanism , he said it did not exist but can be developed to resolve all such issues as a military commission will work for forces’ withdrawal while a civilian commission will monitor civilian disputes of re-deployment issues etc.
