MUMBAI: President of Indian Cricket Board N. Srinivasan has reportedly threatened Bangladesh to support in favour of ‘Big 3’, otherwise, Indian Board will withdraw it’s team from T20 World Cup and Asia Cup.
Srinivasan on Tuesday said Indian cricket team will not take part in T20 and Asia Cup if Bangladesh doesn’t align with India on the matter for its position against the ‘Big 3’ proposal on test cricket to the International Cricket Council.
“If you [Bangladesh] do not agree, the Indian cricket team would not visit Bangladesh to play T20 World Cup. We will also withdraw our team from the Asia Cup,” BCCI President N Srinivasan said.
“We will see what you [Bangladesh] do afterwards,” he warned.
India is the biggest proponent of the proposal. It needs votes from seven countries to get passed; since, according to the ICC constitution, eight votes are required to bring an amendment.
As Srinivasan could not go to Dubai to attend the ICC meeting, two Indian officials spoke to Bangladesh officials on his behalf, However, Bangladesh didn’t seem to be convinced.
According to reports, cricket fans in Dhaka protested against the proposal.
