LARKANA: Adviser to Chief Minister Sindh on Culture Sharmila Farooqui has made it clear that the festival functions at Moen-Jo-Daro would cause no harm to its archaeological site.
Addressing a news conference at Mohen-Jo-Daro near here on Thursday, she said that PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari himself visited the site of the function and arrnagements and found that no harm would be done to the archaeological monument, hence the fears expressed by a section of media in this regard were baseless.
She noted that culture of Sindh would be introduced at international level during the festival.
She said that the stage for the inaugural function has been made of wooden panels on the advice of the inernational experts so that no harm could be inflicted to the site.
Ms. Farooqui said that Rs.225 million have been allocated for cultural and other related programmes by the provincial government while different institutions including Chamber of Commerce and Industry had also coordinated with them in this regard.
She informed that more than 15 to 18 events would be held on the occasion in which Sindhi folk and sufi songs would be presented.
Director Ancient Archaeology Dr Qasim Ali Qasmi told newsmen that no impairment caused to the ancients archaeology by arranging the Festival because no earth digging was done to hold the festival.
Commissioner Larkana Dr. Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo, DIG Police Larkana Range Khadim Hussain Rind, Deputy Commissioner Larkana, SSP Larkana and other official were also present at the press conference.
