ISLAMABAD: The anti-terrorism court (ATC) has accepted the petition of former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf seeking exemption from appearance of him on Monday’s hearing in the judge’s detention case.
ATC judge Ateeq-ur-Rehman resumed hearing of the exemption plea.
During the course of hearing,Public prosecutor Amir Nadeem Tabish objected on the persistent absence of Musharraf from the hearings, non-provision of his medical report and pleaded to initiate action against him and his guarantors.
Musharraf’s Counsel Ilyas Siddiqui along with two guarantors Rashid and Mushtaq appeared before the court and said that his client was ill and could not attend the hearing.
However,he ensured the court to provide Musharraf’s medical record in next hearing.
He also asked the court to grant the former president exemption from appearing for the hearing of the case.
After hearing the arguments, the court, provided exemption to Pervez Musharraf from today’s proceedings and adjourned the case till February 24.
