LAHORE: Test cricketer Umar Akmal was arrested by the police and an FIR was registered in Gulberg Police Station after a heated exchange with a traffic warden near Firdous Market in Lahore, Aaj News reported.
According to the police sources, First Information Report (FIR) has already been registered against him and he will be presented in court withing the next 24 hours. Umar Akmal tried to break a signal and also threatened the warden, when he was asked to show his vehicle papers.
Umar Akmal refuses from all these blames charged against him and said that he was heading off for a wedding and a police officer stopped him.He also mentioned that the warden hit him on hi face
Gulberg assistant superintendent police (ASP) Zahid Nawaz, while speaking to the media sources said that Akram’s face was not hurt and there is no such evidence to support his claims. ” Warden’s shirt has been torn off from the side of his collar, It was Akmal who resorted violence , not the warden.”, said the ASP.
Presently, Umar Akmal has been detained in Gulberg Police Station and he awaited for the hearing in the court. Umar’s father and his brother arrived just after he was arrested.
