NAWABSHAH: Senior Sindh Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has said that Karachi operation is not aimed against any political party but terrorist elements who are destroying peace in the city.
Talking to media men here on Tuesday at the 6th Convocation of Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering Science and Technology, he said the government was taking action to maintain law and order in Karachi.
The minister said Karachi was economic hub of the country and the worsening situation adversely affected the foreign investment.
“The police will arrest any criminal regardless of any political affiliation on the basis of their criminal activitiy,” he said adding that the Karachi operation was launched on the appeal of Muttahida Qoumi Movement (MQM) who had demanded an operation under the supervision of army.
Khuhro said the enquiry into the MQM’s allegations would be conducted but the police and rangers had been given the task to clear the city of the criminals and the operation would continue.
Responding to a question, the minister said the operation would last as long as the hideouts of the criminals and target killers existed in Karachi.
