KARACHI: Shutter down strike was observed on the call of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in the metropolis on Saturday.
The call for observing ‘youm-e-soug’ was given by the leadership of MQM.
However, shops were opened andpublic transport returned to roads after 2 pm.
On Friday last addressing a press conference MQM leader Haider Abbas Razvi at MQM headquarters “90” had appealed to the transporters and traders to demonstrate support and keep their business closed.
He alleged that the activists of MQM were being victimized.
Main business centres, shops and patrol pumps in different areas remained closed following the call while public transport remained off the roads.
No untoward incident was reported from any where in connection with the strike. Security remained at high alert during the day.
