KARACHI: A report relating to deaths of children caused by famine in Thar has been submitted in Sindh High Court, in which Chief Secretary Sindh assured the court that strict action would be taken against the responsible people. Aaj News reported.
A tribunal bench, including Chief Justice Sindh High Court, Maqbool Baqar and Justice Farooq Ali was hearing the suo-moto case against Childrens death in Thar.
Chief Secretary Sajjad Saleem, Secretary Food and Secretary Health appeared before the Court.
Chief Secretary informed the court that Deputy Commissioner Tharparkar, DG Health Services and Deputy Commissioner LifeStock has been replaced, adding that a Fact-Finding Committee was also constituted, with the appointment of IG Hyderabad as Investigation Officer.
According to the report, Chief Minister Sindh had ordered the distribution of 77.000 wheat bags, out of which 60,000 had been distributed so far whereas Thirty-million Rupees were also released for the District Mithi Hospital. The report further stated that fifteen Mob-service teams were working currently in Thar and 800 Livestock were being vaccinated each day.
