KARACHI: A gold medal was awarded to Fawad Alam for his outstanding performances in the Asia Cup Cricket Tournament in Bangladesh at a ceremony held at UBL Sports Complex Ground on Monday.
The medal was announced by Managing Director Omar Associates Nadeem Omar for Fawad Alam’s spectacular unbeaten knock of 114 against Sri Lanka in the final of Asia Cup.
Nadeem Omar and Syed Aminul Haque member MQM Rabbita Committee presented the medal to Test cricketer Fawad Alam.
Medal presentation was made after the opening match of All Karachi Muhammad Zamir Khan Memorial Cricket Tournament.
Former Chairman National Assembly Standing Committee on Sports Iqbal Muhammad Ali earlier in the morning inaugurated the Zamir Khan Memorial Cricket Tournament.
Medal presentation ceremony was also attended by former Chief Selector Salahuddin Ahmed, ex-KCCA chief Syed Sirajul Islam Bukari,and Test cricketers Rashid Khan, Khurram Manzoor, Sohail Khan and several former first class cricketer and cricket organizers.
Pakistan Cricket Club beat Faisal Gymkhana by seven wickets in the opening match of the tournament.
Batting first, Faisal Gymkhana was bowled out for 132 runs in 31 overs. Arsalan Farzand (41), Sohaib Shakil (31) batted well. Leg-spinner Shahzaib Ahmed Khan captured five wickets for 25 runs Tabish Khan 2-25, Junaid Ilys 2-32 gave him good support.
PCC in reply romped home for the loss of three wickets in the 24th over. Opener Fazal Subhan smashed an unbeaten 84 with 11 boundaries and three sixes. Rizwan Khan made 34. Muhammad Bilal 2-28.
The medal will be presented to him at the prize distribution ceremony of Muhammad Zamir Khan after the final between Pakistan Cricket Club and Faisal Gymkhana staged at UBL Sports Complex Ground on March 31, organizers announced on Friday.
