KARACHI: The meeting of Senate’s Standing Committee on Housing and Works reviewed the pace of housing projects, being constructed for providing housing facilities to government employees.
The meeting chaired by Senator Shahi Syed here on Monday discussed various matters related to the housing projects which have been completed by Pakistan Housing Authority (PHA) and Pak PWD in Sindh to provide official accomodation to government employees.
The committee was briefed by the officials concerned about the current status of under construction projects and problems being faced by them in completion of those projects.
The committee was briefed about the allotment policy and number of illegal occupants, using government accommodation after their retirement.
Minister for Housing and Works Barrister Usman Ibrahim who is ex-officio member of the committee assured that all its recommendations would be implemented for bringing improvement in the allotment policy.
He said that efforts are underway to enhance the number of housing projects for resolving the accommodation problems of serving government employees.
He said that a comprehensive policy has been prepared to provide accommodation facilities to the maximum number of government employees.
The meeting was attended among others by Senator Ms Shirala Malik, Senator Muhammad Zafar Ullah Khan, Senator Hamza, Senator Zafar Ali Shah and Senator Abdul Rauf.
