QUETTA: A seven-year-old girl died and eighteen others sustained injuries in a blast at Sariab Road area of provincial capital on Saturday.
According to police spokesman, unknown men planted Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) in an auto rickshaw parked on the roadside near New Sariab Police Station. The powerful explosion took place when a vehicle of Security forces was crossing the area.
As a result, a minor girl died on the spot while 18 others received injuries.
The injured were rushed to civil hospital for medical aid. The injured were identified as Muhammad Yousaf, Nematullah, Rasool Bakhsh, Abdul Ali, Lal Muhammad, Niazullah, Nasir Khan Niaz Muhammad Shoaib, Salman, Muhammad Raza, Jalal Khan, Abdul Ghaffar and Janan.
The body of minor girl was handed over to the heirs after legal formalities.
The intensity of the blast also smashed the windows of nearby homes, vehicles and shops located in the area, the spokesman added.
Police and security officials have cordoned off the area and a search operation is underway. The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) has reached the site of the blast.
