ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan has constituted a three-member Committee, headed by Additional IG Punjab to submit a detailed report within 10 days regarding Muzzafargarh rape case, Aaj News reported
A three-member judge panel, headed by Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, heard the suo moto case pertaining to the rape and self-immolation of an 18-year-old in Muzaffargarh. The Supreme Court ordered the formation of a three member team, headed by the DIG to probe the case. IG Punjab has also been directed to submit a detailed report in ten days.
Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani remarked that the rape victim who set herself ablaze was not satisfied with the investigation and attitude of the local police. He added that the incident clearly demonstrated negligence and if safety measures had been taken the victim could have been saved.
Earlier, IG Punjab presented the report of the case in the Supreme Court. The provincial police chief said five witnesses had come forward and testified in the case. The report added that there was a pre-existing conflict between his father and the accused.
