LAHORE: Load shedding hours in Punjab increases to sixteen hours, paralyzing the life in the province, Aaj News reported.
According to NTD officials, country’s electricity generation capacity was 9000MW and the total requirement was around 11200MW, increasing the shortfall to 2200. In different areas of the Provincial Capital, Lahore an hourly load shedding was taking place after every hour.
In all big and small cities of Multan, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Gujrat, Bahawaulpur, Sargodha, Hafizabad and Lahore load shedding for 14-16 hours was being observed whereas rural areas were more severely hit, with the time exceeding to 18 hours.
Prolonged hours of load shedding also caused water shortage and tube-wells stopped working, adversely affecting the agricultural lands.
