A three-member bench, led by Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, conducted the proceedings regarding local bodies’ elections in Sindh and Punjab.
Advocate General (AG) Punjab Mustafa Ramday presented a report before the bench which showed the time frame of local bodies’ election. He further said that the elections have been divided in ten stages.
AG Punjab plead in the court and asked for four months time for the preparation of local bodies’ election. The delimitation of constituencies and preparation of draft legal bills would at least take this much time.
On this plea, Chief Justice called upon Attorney General in the court and asked if the federation and provinces can complete legislation about LB elections. The AG will inform the court in this regard.
