ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has rejected the request of Sindh Govt. of detention in Local Body (LB) polls on Thursday, whereas the SC has ordered Sindh Govt. to submit the schedule till November 15.
According to the sources, the Supreme Court has announced their verdict and has directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to carry out the process of LB polls till November 15 by authorizing the schedule of the polls.
Earlier, SC conducted the hearing regarding the petitions filed against LB polls. After going through all the petitions and request’s filed by different parties, the SC instructed ECP to pass out the final schedule of LB polls till 15 November.
On the other hand, the SC held Sindh Local Govt. Act 2013 unconstitutional on December 30, 2013. This decision was made by a divisional bench, who earlier received 10 requests from the political parties including Mutahhida Quami Movement (MQM) and Jamaat-e-Islami, who claimed this bill unlawful.
