RAWALPINDI: All Pakistan Compressed Natural Gas Association (APCNGA) on Friday suggested to increase working-schedule of CNG stations from six hours to nine hours a day throughout the week in Punjab.
“A proposal has been submitted to the Ministry of Petroleum to increase working-hours of CNG stations replacing existing 10 am to 4 pm schedule with 6 am to 3 pm to facilitate motorists,” said APCNGA Chairman Ghayas Paracha while talking to APP here.
He expressed the hope that the government would give a serious consideration to the proposal as it would help mitigate sufferings of motorists, who are spending hours to get CNG.
Elaborating, he said that the suggestion has been submitted in line to offer relief especially to the working class who would have about two to three hours for getting CNG cylinders refilled on their way to work places.
He said those CNG filling stations, which had earlier got stay from court against the government decision about weekly closure/holidays of the outlets, would have no bar to follow the recent formula.
In line to avoid hassle, he said that the CNG station owners are being urged to dedicate exclusive dispensers for each public transport vehicles and privately owned vehicles.
A great rush is being witnessed at CNG stations of the city after government’s announcement to keep them open for six hours without any holiday.
The APCNGA Chairman was of the view that the proposal would make the governmen’s recent plan successful as there would be a visible improvement in the prevailing situation at the gas stations.
Meanwhile, the private vehicles owners have pinned the hope that the concerned quarters would take serious note of the situation according to which they have to be part of long queues for getting CNG refilled in their vehicles. The office goers who observe timing from 9 am to 5 pm are totally deprived of this facility as they cannot approach CNG station during working days.
