KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that Firefighters’ Day will be observed in the name of those fire fighters who died saving the lives of people.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, he said that these martyrs should not only be appreciated but should be paid tributes as well. The commissioner was addressing a meeting at his office.
He said like police officers and personnel, the fire fighters also save lives and assets of the people.
He paid tributes to the martyred fire fighters on behalf of the government.The Commissioner said that rescue 1299 staff will be trained more.
International Firefighters’ Day (IFFD) is a time where the world’s community recognise and honour the sacrifices of the fire fighters and the day is observed each year on 4th May.
He stated that to resolve traffic jam issue in the city, scouts have been provided on six different points to assist traffic police and after April 16 more scouts will be provided for the purpose.
