MULTAN: Electricity theft in Pakistan had become a political issue, said Abid Sher Ali, State Minister for Water and Power, Aaj News reported on Monday.
According to the reports, Abid Sher Ali conducted a news conference at the MEPCO office, in which he informed the media that the present government had made a decision to resolve electricity theft on war-footing.
According to the State Minister, efforts were being made to ensure that there was a maximum of eight hours load shedding in cities.
He further added that five feeders in Multan were on high losses and 12-16 hours of load shedding would be conducted in areas receiving electricity from these feeders.
The State Minister said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had ordered to stop electricity theft at all costs. He further warned that electricity theft would not be tolerated in any corner of Pakistan.
