ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s prime minister will attend the swearing-in ceremony of India´s Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi, said a spokesman of PM, Aaj News reported on Saturday.
The decision by Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif could signal an easing of tensions between the nations.
A statement Saturday from Sharif´s office said the prime minister had been invited this week by New Delhi to attend the ceremony.
Modi will be sworn in as Indian Prime Minister in New Delhi on Monday evening.
It will be first time in the history of both nuclear-armed countries that a Pakistani prime minister is attending such a ceremony.
According to the reports, Sharif already congratulated Modi over his victory in the election, but his arrival in the ceremony was awaited, which has been confirmed now.
